Nothing is as peaceful as time spent near the sea. We designed this "formal" dining room to evoke a sense of quiet, elegant, approachable ease. The dark walnut table top has a central "compass" brass inlay detail as do the backs of the very, very comfortable chairs. With a bow towards how this room functions, we wrapped each chair seat in understated, cotton duck slipcovers (they untie for cleaning if need be and can even be bleached!). The white column candlesticks are vintage Tiffany, and the well-scaled sideboard a rustic classic by Dessin Fournir. We dressed the dark floors in diamond patterned sisal, and our crowning touch was the fantastic burnished silvered "Copernicus" armillary-style chandelier by Mike Reid Weeks.
